Mavoureen & Dr. Nairn: April 2016

We’ve been hard at work on the 2017 SCAT Street Cat Rescue Men With Cats calendar, which got us reminiscing about last year’s campaign. Each year we are fortunate to have such a great group of guys to support this important fundraiser, including Dr. David Nairn who is featured in April 2016.

A veterinarian at Furry Friends Animal Hospital, Dr. Nairn spends his time caring for small animals and promoting pet health and wellness. When SCAT approached him with the opportunity to be featured in the calendar, he jumped at the chance. He’s obviously an animal lover, keeping pets in tip-top shape at the clinic and two dogs and two cats in line at home. But what got Dr. Nairn really excited was modelling with Mavoureen.

He laughs when he recalls the photo shoot. “It was fun!” he says. “The photographer was really good. And Mavoureen was a pro. She’s a supermodel, that one!”

Mavoureen is no stranger to the spotlight, first appearing in the Men with Cats charity calendar in December 2015 as a kitten. A SCAT foster, Mavoureen sees Dr. Nairn on a monthly basis, so the two were already comfortable with each other when the photographer started snapping away. Just look at the calendar and you’ll see the bond between them! Mavoureen receives acupuncture and other physical therapy treatments from Dr. Nairn to help prevent her from feeling too stiff, a side effect of a neurological condition. I think Dr. Nairn looks forward to his regular appointments with Mavoureen just as much as she looks forward to seeing him.

SCAT is one of the animal rescues Dr. Nairn promotes to his patients’ families or anyone interested in adopting. “SCAT is great. They’re very caring, passionate and always doing what’s best for the pets,” he says. “And they’re needed. It’s good to support them and do whatever you can to help out.”

Thanks Dr. Nairn! We're so glad you could join us as a 2016 MWC Calendar Guy!
